Volunteers Make Rugby Possible

Community rugby depends on volunteers. Whether you can help for one match, a few hours or the whole season, every contribution helps create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable game day.

Some common volunteer roles include:

Ground Manager – helps the day run smoothly, supports match officials, manages spectator behaviour and checks that the ground is ready and safe.
Team Manager – organises team lists, communicates with players and assists with Rugby Xplorer match-day requirements.
Assistant Referee – helps the referee by indicating when the ball goes into touch and assisting with other duties when qualified.
First Aid Attendant – provides initial care for injuries and ensures the required first-aid equipment is available.
Scorekeeper or Timekeeper – records scores, tracks playing time and assists with match-day reporting.
Field Setup – places flags, post pads, ropes, signs and other equipment before play, then helps pack everything away.
Canteen and Barbecue Helpers – prepare and serve food and drinks, helping create the friendly atmosphere country rugby is known for.
Photographers and Social Media Helpers – capture match-day moments and share club news, results and achievements.

You do not need to be a rugby expert to volunteer. Training and support can be provided, and even a small amount of your time makes a real difference.
